I own two of these 391's and till I shot my first Beratta I hated going skeet shooting. I am trying to get a rifled short barrel for one for deer season.

I love my Urika II Gold. Nicely made, havent shot it a lot. It takes time to clean it.

I have owned four 391 guns over the years, taken two to Argentina, twice. They are great to shoot, but a bear to clean after a 1,000 round morning and a 1,000 round afternoon. But even so, the pure ease of shooting the 391 for most folks might very well out weigh the cleaning regiment that is required in high volume shooting. When it comes to a lady or youthful shooter the 20ga 391 Sporting Gold gun is, without a doubt, the very best auto shotgun in the world. My personal gun right now is a 20ga 391 Urika, Sporting Gold Silver Side with an custom exhibition grade wood stock and a set of barrels in 24 and 28 inch lengths. The gun is just like shooting with a magic wand, a bird killing wand. I have found but one fault with the 391, the ejector. The ejector is formed by a cutout in the inside of the aluminum frame and is just an aluminum high point at the end of the cut. The aluminum ejector wears and should be redesigned as a steel insert. However, the aluminum ejector will last for many, many thousands of rounds so it is not something for the average shooter to worry about when buying a new gun. Ed

I am damn proud to say I own one of these fine pieces of Italian craftsmanship - of the Gold Sporting variety to be exact. 2000+ rounds so far; not a single malfunction of any kind. Doubt Ill ever have one with this gun, considering the way its been able to chew through everything Ive fed it. When it comes to semi-autos, I do believe you wont find much better than this gun. I think the only autoloaders that could give the Urika a run for its money are Berettas pricier Teknys and Xtrema lines, and even then, it depends on the model.

The Al391 I have is a parallel comb model. Fit and finish are above average, reliability has been fantastic. I have not had one malfunction in 8,000 rounds plus to date. I changed from a Beretta O/U to this auto and am glad. The shotgun mounts quickly, swings fast, and digests any type of 2 3/4 or 3 load that is safe to shoot.

It is not a real wood finish. The wood stock is of "Euro Hardwood" sorta like Maple. It has a tough plastic wood grain coating, laminated, for lack of a better descripotion, over the pulp wood stock. They look good enough to fool some folks, even up close. Ed

could anyone tell me what type of wood they used? It is very unusual and good looking.
